If you're thinking about adding a paid subscription to your newsletter or blog, this video covers what you need to consider before you launch it. Everybody starts by thinking about platform, perks and pricing, but the real place to start is by getting a real sense of who will buy this?
I've been running a paid subscription model on and off since 2020 and it's currently my primary operating model. There's so much to love about this business model, but a lot of indie publishers and creators have been scammed by Substack and Patreon who told them they didn't have to do anything for revenue to grow. Marketing is on you babe. Those platforms lied. You'll have to find your paid subscribers yourself and persuade them to join you. But the good news is that it's fun (or at least I think it's fun) once you start learning how your audience thinks and tapping into why they pay. The recipes are clear and there's lots of room for your own creativity in the process.
This video is for beginners but if you're struggling with your paid subscription, you might find some of the later chapters helpful too.
