I love the freedom working solo gives me, but I was always hoping Journalists Pay Themselves would become a team venture.
So when I discovered Liz Kelly Nelson’s Project C late last year, I reached out to her right away to see what common ground we had between our visions.
Turns out a lot.
Liz and I see this massive opportunity journalist entrepreneurs have to take control of their medium, their message and their monetization in a similar way.
Where I focus on monetization, Liz brings go to market strategy, editorial, trustbuilding and more whole person support. Her background is as a journalist and as a news exec. Liz is way more plugged into the scene than I am and she gets where journalists are coming from making the move from newsroom to solo operator.
Liz and I have been working together inside Going Solo, an accelerator for journalists going out on their own, along with Ryan Kellett, Blair Hickman, Caitlin Dewey and Lynn Walsh. Going Solo was started at ONA last year by Ryan, Blair, Liz and Caitlin. Some of you have been through it already and some of you are joining us starting this week!
